Excellent video clip of Stan Karp, an education activist, gave this discussion up in Portland, Oregon. Stan discusses the question: “Who is Bashing Teachers and Public Schools, and What We Can Do About It.” Stan’s answer: “far too many people are doing this and doing a lot of damage.” I encourage people to watch this as it was really good.
Stan, as I learned from the video was a teacher in Paterson, NJ for 30 years, so he knows what he speaks of. He makes references to Chris Christie, Michelle Rhee, and the Waiting for Superman anti-teacher propaganda movie. He also speaks about Oprah, Mark Zuckerberg and others such as hedge funds who have a goal of bursting the dam of public money that goes to schools so that it can go to the private hedge fund industry.
