Breaking: Vermont Senate Says Overturn Citizens United
Hi everyone,
Bernie Sanders (if he weren’t his present age) would be my first pick to run after Obama’s second term (if he gets a second term-I think he will). Bernie is basically one of the only “people politicians” we have who fights for middle-income and lower-income families, that is why he is so despised by both those in power and especially those on the Right.
Let’s support the overturning of Citizens United! Let’s help get big money OUT of politics.
Vermont Senate Says
Overturn Citizens UnitedThe Vermont Senate passed a resolution today seeking to undo the damage caused by the U.S. Supreme Court’s disastrous Citizens United decision which unleashed waves of corporate cash into our democracy. Sixty-four Vermont towns successfully approved resolutions during their March town meetings calling on Congress to initiate a constitutional amendment to undo the damage caused by the Citizens United ruling.
The resolution approved by the Vermont Senate
asks Congress to consider the request of those town votes and propose a constitutional amendment to clarify that “money is not speech and corporations are not persons under the U.S. Constitution.”
“The Vermont Senate has now added its strong voice to a grassroots movement that is growing all across the United States,” said Bernie, who has introduced the Saving American Democracy Amendment.
Next week, join Bernie in Washington, D.C. for an April 18 summit to help build momentum to reverse Citizens United.
